WIRUS-L is another design from the WIRUS family of light vehicles developed by Concept. The vehicle was designed as a universal platform for missions requiring high mobility, the ability to transport personnel and equipment, and operation in demanding terrain.
The WIRUS-L design builds on the experience gained from earlier versions of the WIRUS vehicle. Compared with the LPU WIRUS IV light strike vehicle, the new design offers more space for the crew and equipment, as well as broader configuration possibilities.
A universal platform for special missions
The WIRUS-L was designed as a vehicle that can be adapted to a wide range of missions. It can be used for transporting soldiers and equipment, patrol and reconnaissance operations, as well as a platform for specialised systems and mission-specific configurations.
Depending on the configuration, the vehicle can carry four or six soldiers. The cabin is integrated with the cargo area, allowing personnel and essential equipment to be transported at the same time.

Designed for off-road mobility
The vehicle is based on a robust frame construction. The body is made of high-strength steel, with lightweight composite materials also used in its construction. This approach combines the required structural strength with reduced vehicle weight.
The design focuses on providing high mobility both on and off road. The WIRUS-L features a drivetrain designed for off-road operation, together with solutions that facilitate tackling demanding terrain.
The front suspension is independent and uses coil springs, transverse wishbones, telescopic shock absorbers and a stabiliser bar. At the rear, the vehicle features a rigid driven axle with leaf-spring suspension.
The vehicle is equipped with 285/65 R18 wheels with A/T tyres. Minimum ground clearance is 250 mm, while unprepared fording depth is 700 mm. The approach angle is 30°, the departure angle is 35°, and the breakover angle is 25°.

4×4 drivetrain and 180 HP engine
The WIRUS-L is powered by a four-cylinder MMC 4N16 turbocharged diesel engine with a displacement of 2442 cm³. The engine develops 180 HP and a maximum torque of 430 Nm.
The drivetrain is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. It features a transfer case with a reduction gear designed for off-road driving. The design also provides for differential locks.
The combination of 4×4 drive, a reduction gear and specially prepared suspension allows the vehicle to operate effectively away from paved roads.
Space for crew and equipment
One of the key features of the WIRUS-L is the flexible use of its interior space. Depending on the configuration, the cabin can accommodate four or six people.
Behind the last row of seats is a cargo area equipped with a non-slip floor and solutions for securing transported equipment. This allows the vehicle to be configured according to the specific nature of the mission.

Equipment tailored to the user’s needs
The WIRUS-L can be equipped with additional solutions depending on its intended use. Available options include a winch, an additional 24 V electrical system, antenna mounts and communication systems.
Specialised configurations can include a lightweight weapon station capable of mounting 5.56, 7.62 and 12.7 mm machine guns as well as a 40 mm grenade launcher, remote weapon systems, RF reconnaissance systems, electro-optical observation systems, anti-drone and electronic jamming systems, automatic grenade launchers, and reconnaissance and combat drones.
The range of equipment can be selected according to the specific requirements of the user and the nature of the missions to be carried out.
WIRUS-L in field operations
The vehicle’s capabilities are best demonstrated in demanding terrain. The WIRUS-L was designed for situations where mobility, the ability to transport equipment and rapid access to the mission area are essential.
The vehicle can be used for patrol and reconnaissance operations, equipment transport and as a platform for specialised systems. Its design also allows versions to be prepared for specific applications.
Development of the WIRUS vehicle family
The WIRUS-L represents another stage in the development of vehicles that Concept designs for users requiring a lightweight and highly mobile vehicle for special missions. The WIRUS family includes, among others, the LPU WIRUS IV and LSV WIRUS 4 SOF, designed respectively for special forces and long-range reconnaissance operations, as well as missions requiring a lightweight design and high mobility.
The new WIRUS-L develops this concept further, offering more space, increased payload capacity and the possibility of integrating a wide range of specialised equipment.
WIRUS-L – full specification and configuration
